| The need for well-qualified,
competent and professional assistance in communications
is even greater in today’s sophisticated and
global environment. In the face of economic uncertainties,
public relations (PR) acts as a planned communication
process that reflect sustained top management, commitment
and implementation. Here at SRC, the PR fraternity
works towards in giving the Club its rightful worth,
image and recognition, through maintaining a good
working relationship with the media community, keeping
communication channels open for members and organising
activities for the benefit of Club members and guests.
Hence, the department works closely with three sub-committees,
namely the Entertainment, Publications and Social
sub-committees, as well as other departments in
the Club.
RECS & Other Publications
In charge of in-house publications, the editorial
team from the department produces the monthly
Club magazine, RECS, as well as other ad-hoc publications
such as the yearly Annual Report and souvenir
magazine for the Ambassadors’ SRC Charity
Soccer Fiesta. Additionally, the team oversees
content published on the Club’s website,
and provides design work and copy for Club posters
and notices.
Through the dedicated efforts of the team, together
with the Publications Sub-Committee, the magazine
has taken a more appealing revamp, with 36 pages
of visually engaging content. As we move towards
a digital era, the team has initiated the process
of digital archiving past RECS issues, and disseminating
any vital Club information via email. Net savvy
members will also be glad to know that selected
RECS articles are now available online and an
e-newsletter has been planned for launch in June
2004.
The PR team also welcomes members to contribute
articles or suggestions to improve RECS and SRC’s
website.
Social & Entertainment Activities
The Club’s social and entertainment activities
fall under the care of the PR department. Various
executives from the department undertake administration
of the Balut, Bridge, Chess, DanceSport, Kids’
Club, Line Dance, SRC Toastmasters Club and Women’s
Wing. Social activities for members, Club Nights
and themed events are also organised by the department
on a regular basis. Both of the Club’s resident
bands at Barker Lounge and Lounge 1883 are employed
through PR.
All feedback is welcome on how the team can enhance
the overall social and entertainment experience
for members. |
