Chess has long been considered a way for children and adults alike to increase their mental prowess, concentration, memory and analytical skills.

Section members can look forward to participating in a series of tournaments and inter-club competitions. Friendly competitive matches are regularly arranged, to keep the interest in chess high. All are welcome to learn to play chess at planned beginner classes, while advanced players can hone their skills at training sessions. The Section also encourages members and their children to come forward and join the section, to represent the Club in friendly games or tournaments.

Regular games are held on Friday evenings at the Chess Room.
