| Cricket was played as early as the 12th century. The first real cricket club to be established was the Hambledon Club in England, which flourished in the second half of the 18th century. The detailed conduct of the game is governed by the Laws of Cricket. The Laws were revised in 1744, but before that cricket was being played under a commonly accepted code.
Cricket is now played at school, club and professional levels all around the world. The West Indies, Australia, Pakistan, India, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and South Africa are the teams participating in the cricket sport at its highest level, the World Cup Cricket Competition.
With an affiliation to the Singapore Cricket Association, the Cricket Section currently has three teams in Division One, Two and Three of the SCA League. With the composition of both foreign and local players, the players actively play in league games every Sunday. The section also organizes the annual tournament, Nirmal Singh Sixes, in memory of the late Nirmal Singh.
