Welcome to the virtual world of Singapore Recreation Club (SRC).

SRC started with only a small pavilion on the Padang when our Eurasian founding fathers established the Club in 1883 for Eurasians to play sports.

Our magnificent $65 million Clubhouse, which was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Construction Industry Development Board (now known as the Building and Construction Authority) in 1999, lends a celebrity aura to the surrounding Civic District. You can feel the pulse of the City with an enviable location such as this, with the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, famed steps of City Hall, Supreme Court, St Andrew’s Cathedral, War Memorial Park, Raffles City, Suntec City and Marina Square just steps away.

A plethora of events and activities organised by the SRC and its 22 special interest groups, high octane action from the world’s first evening grand prix route from our doorstep and a view of the upcoming Sands integrated resort at Marina Bay are just some of new things that members can look forward to.

SRC is not a proprietor club. It is a club started by members, owned by members and managed by members. Here at SRC, our valued members have their say in how things are done. Under the Club’s Constitution, members elect a management committee every two years, to oversee the running of the Club.

Through prudent management, SRC has over the years, accumulated surpluses, which can be used for a variety of items, ranging from upgrading works to lease renewals.

With visitor arrivals projected to reach 10.8 million in 2008, the President of SRC, Dr Johnny Goh, and the Management Committee, studied the possibility of building guestrooms for use by members and visitors.

The project was first put to vote at SRC’s AGM in 2008 as a new source of revenue in view of the next renewal of the Club’s 30-year lease on the Padang and received the go ahead from the authorities in November the same year. We started receiving guests for the 26 rooms on September 11, 2009.”
